How can Indigenous and local knowledge be meaningfully included in the scientific basis for salmon assessments and in salmon governance? The RecoSal project has addressed these complex questions in the context of the Deatnu/Tana river system, where ecological concerns intersect with multiple knowledge systems and Indigenous rights.

In this seminar Tuesday February 10, researchers from biological and social sciences share reflections from different disciplinary perspectives. The presentations explore challenges and opportunities for including Sami rights- and knowledge-holders in salmon research, assessment and governance, and discuss possible ways forward towards more inclusive and integrated salmon management.

The seminar will be held in English, and concludes with a panel discussion and open Q&A.

Inkludering av samisk kunnskap i lakseforskning og forvaltning

Hvordan kan samisk og lokal kunnskap få en reell plass i vitenskapelige laksevurderinger og i forvaltningen av laks? RecoSal-prosjektet har jobbet med disse komplekse spørsmålene med utgangspunkt i Deatnu/Tana-vassdraget – et område der økologiske utfordringer, kunnskapssystemer og urfolksrettigheter møtes.

På Vin&Viten tirsdag 10. februar deler forskere fra både natur- og samfunnsvitenskap sine refleksjoner fra prosjektet. Gjennom ulike faglige perspektiver utforskes muligheter og utfordringer ved å inkludere samiske rettighets- og kunnskapsbærere i lakseforskning og -forvaltning, og det diskuteres veier videre mot mer inkluderende og kunnskapsrik styring av laksen.

Kvelden avsluttes med paneldiskusjon og åpen spørsmålsrunde.

Arrangementet foregår på engelsk, men du er velkommen til å dele spørsmål/kommentarer på norsk.
